A highway condition survey is a visual document showing the condition of a road and its surroundings. This report is aimed to discharge any conditions set out by the planning regarding to highways by showing its previous condition and making sure the works do not compromise the free and safe use of the highway.
These usually come in 2 parts a pre-construction and post construction. The pre-construction is to determine the condition of the road/ area before any construction work takes place, and the post construction survey is to determine if any areas have been damaged as a result of the construction process e.g., if lorry movement has worn or broken any kerbstones / surfacing.
The report is all georeferenced with arrows pointing at which direction the photo was taken that is either overlaid onto an OS plan or any existing drawing information that is supplied.
We are now looking to offer a basic HDS scan of the area to give a more detailed picture of how the area has changed over time by comparing 2 data sets pre & post works if at all required. We also supply a 360′ video of the whole area as standard to give an additional and more comprehensive view of the site, please see our example video below.
Please see the images below showing examples of our PDF deliverable that includes a descriptive section of each image for record.
We also offer a defect condition survey, where any anomalies are surveyed for position and level and placed onto a topographical survey for reference. These would also be photographed for position as per our standard condition survey but a location & sizing can be helpful at the latter stages of your project.
If you had any further queries regarding highway / road condition surveys please get in touch with any of the Encompass Surveys team and we would be happy to assist on your project.
